I have a special talent. I’ve mentioned before that all I have to do is look at plant life and it dies. The fall before last, I purchased a boxwood (only $3 at the end of the season). We talked and talked and couldn’t decide where to plant it. In the mean time, winter came and we forgot about the poor boxwood sitting next to the front porch in it’s little plastic pot.
In the spring we noticed it again, on it’s side and actually turing green! I was so excited. Still didn’t know where we’d want it, so I put it in the urn next to our front door. It was only a matter of weeks until it was dead. How could it survive all winter on it’s side in that junky little pot and not survive me trying to plant it?
Well, I’ve done it again. Last fall, we purchased two rose bushes on clearance at the end of the season. Couldn’t decide where to put them, so we put them in the flower bed (in the cheap plastic pots they came in). Suddenly, it was spring again, poor rose bushes still sitting there. But they have bloomed! And they look happy. And now I’m really, really afraid to try to plant them.
