The basic barbecue sauce I use for everything.

  1. Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat and add onion and garlic. Cook gently, stirring, for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add all other ingredients, and stir.
  3. Reduce the heat and simmer, partially covered, until the sauce has thickened slightly, about 20 minutes.
Recipe Notes

You can put the hot sauce directly into a mason jar, put the lid on and it will seal itself for storage in the cupboard.

To make pulled beef or chicken sandwiches, put roasts or chicken breasts in the crockpot and cover with sauce.  Cook on low for 8+ hours.

When it’s done, for easy shredding, put the meat in a stand mixer and mix. ¬†(Don’t over-mix or it will get mushy.)
