Thing #1:

I didn’t get any work done on the bathroom this week.  Instead, I was finishing up a few things in order to open my new Etsy shop!  I haven’t said anything about it, but it’s what has been taking a lot of time away from renovations lately (I don’t mind that part, the shop is more fun to work on, and hopefully it will help fund the never-ending renovations).

It’s called Meyne, and it’s a blog template & theme shop.

On my 1st blogging anniversary, I gave the blog a makeover with a free template.  The template came with cute pink bullets for lists in my sidebar, but when I added a new widget, it didn’t match.

It was so frustrating, but I didn’t want to keep bugging people with questions about how to fix things, so I figured out it was CSS I needed to learn.  I took Katrina’s CSS course at Pugly Pixel, and was shocked to find that I LOVED it.  When I should have been doing other things, I kept going back to the computer to take another class.

After the course, I practiced and played, and took more courses and researched all the time.  When I switched to WordPress, I started learning PHP (which was not fun, at all at the time–now I love it too).  But I kept learning and practicing.

Right now, there are just three WordPress themes in the shop, but there are many more in the works.  Blogger templates, blog extras (graphics, “Pin It” buttons and the like) also coming soon.  One of my favorite things is making updates to someone’s current blog/website, so that option will be added too, if you happen to be interested in that in the mean time, let me know!

And, eventually, I plan on doing custom designs, micro business and e-commerce sites as well.  It doesn’t seem right for someone who is selling themes to not be using one of her own, so expect a re-design here too sometime.

Thing #2:

AND!!!  In other news…you guys are awesome.  That part isn’t news, but you guys are awesome AND giving.  A few someones have nominated me in Apartment Therapy’s Homies, in both the Home Design and Inspiration and Home DIY categories.  As of Thursday afternoon, I’m only 320 votes behind 1st place!  The voting ends tonight, so stop by if you haven’t yet.  You can vote for all of your favorites in this round–not just me.  😉

I saw you on the Homies list: congratulations! Now I need to find that password of mine to vote for you (I use my password on this site only once a year to vote)!

Wow! Congrats on both! I didn’t know you got that interested in CSS and the works. I can believe it can be daunting first but once you get a hang of it a bit then it gets more interesting. I don’t have much skills with CSS, but I have used one other code language at work and actually like working with it.
Looking forward to your blogger features.
I have the same problem as Magali there, I have no idea what’s my AT password and apparantly I missed the voting time anyway.

Hi, I’m Christina.

Little Victorian is your place for inspiration, education, and encouragement for how to be your own interior designer and decorator, and how to carry out your big plans yourself too.

It starts with psychology, then artistry, and ends with power tools. None of those are scary, and you really can do it.
