The bedroom is looking way better already

As you may have noticed a few weeks ago, the bedroom is going blue.  It is blue now, actually, I finished painting it yesterday. It’s a light, grayed blue with a hint of purple in it–like a grayed periwinkle.  The color goes well with the rest of the house, but it’s a little more romantic […]

As you may have noticed a few weeks ago, the bedroom is going blue.  It is blue now, actually, I finished painting it yesterday.

It’s a light, grayed blue with a hint of purple in it–like a grayed periwinkle.  The color goes well with the rest of the house, but it’s a little more romantic feeling, which is a good thing for a bedroom.

So much brighter than before!

The bedroom will still be a little rustic, with natural elements (wood finishes, iron, textured wool and cotton) like the rest of the house.  And to tone down the sweetness of the blue, the trim and accents in the room will be my favorite soft white and almost-black.  Both the white and the black are used throughout the whole house.

The bed will be replaced with something less contemporary.  I’d love a headboard like one of these:

But we’ll see.

First, we need to paint the ceiling, fix up the ceiling beams and install the moulding that’s in a pile on the floor.

The colors are: Martha Stewart’s Etched Glass (blue), Tailor’s Chalk (white), and Weathervane (black).

I love the beams in your bedroom! And the colour you choose is a lovely shade of blue.

Really calm, really pretty, hope you fall asleep there easier (I remember you had some trouble with that earlier)
Still some work to do, but I’m sure you’ll finish it fast once you get going.

Aw, thank you! That is a good point, it feels so fresh and open in there, it probably will help me sleep better!

I LOOOOOVE the ceiling. Open with the beams! Fantastic!

Hi, I’m Christina.

Little Victorian is your place for inspiration, education, and encouragement for how to be your own interior designer and decorator, and how to carry out your big plans yourself too.

It starts with psychology, then artistry, and ends with power tools. None of those are scary, and you really can do it.
