Jewelry box turned into craft supply storage

Yesterday, while at Goodwill, I found this cute little jewelry box that looks like a vintage buffet, only it’s 10 inches tall.  I don’t need anything else to hold jewelry since I make my own jewelry organizers.  But it was so cute that I stared at it and examined it until I could think of a use for it.  I have no idea why it took me so long to think of it, since it’s been on my mind for a month now… but I need a place to store all my little hardware (cup hooks, finishing nails, beads, mini supplies for the dollhouse, etc.).  Besides, it was only $6!  I brought it home and couldn’t even wait to refinish it.  Here it is today:

Here is what it looked like originally:

I love that miniature hardware, especially the lion heads.  Behind those 2 doors are six more drawers.

First, it was time to sand.  Which was going to take a while.

After the fun part of painting and filling it up with supplies, it looks like this:

Oh, and I’m pretty sure I found a storage/wall shelf solution.  And if it works, it will be really cheap (free, actually), really simple and really different.  I’ll post about it when I have all the supplies together.

Today though, the walls are getting painted.  Seriously this time.

Hi Christina, Just stumbled across your blog via BYW – I LOVE your home! It’s so lovely, I really admire all of the projects you all are taking on. What hard working, dedicated spirits you all must be. My husband and I just purchased our first home about seven months ago and are slowly working up the courage to do some big remodeling of our own.
Looking forward to seeing you around class,
    Kaytie

I have hard time believing it’s so small. It really looks like a live size furniture.

But you made it very nice. The blue goes well with your ceiling 🙂

Hello Christina, what a great blog you have! I’m a new follower from BYW. I agree that the size of the jewelry box looks deceiving. I thought it was a dresser too. Great job, and I’m looking forward to your future posts.

Hi there, I loved the way the jewelry box turned out!! What color and brand is the blue paint that you used, it’s so pretty!

Thanks Felicia! The color is Martha Stewart’s “Hosta” (MSL128). Since Martha’s paints don’t exist anymore, I got the tint in Glidden, but I recommend Behr, it costs a little more, but the quality is much higher.
