Today’s pictures aren’t all that pretty, but we are making progress!  We got the ceiling painted yesterday.

We started by pushing all of my junk furniture against the walls.  Then instead of just taping the tops of walls, we taped plastic drop cloths to them and draped the drop cloth over all the stuff we pushed against the walls.  That way, we didn’t have to move anything out of the room and everything stayed paint-free.

We didn’t bother covering the floor since it needs a new paint job anyway.  I thought we would have a lot of paint splatter, but we really didn’t.  In fact, the only paint that ended up getting on the floor was after we were done when I was cleaning up.  The whole process of painting the ceiling was a lot quicker, simpler and cleaner than we expected, which was a nice surprise.  The hardest part was actually keeping the roller flat against the ceiling.

The little helper managed to find a spot on the floor large enough for him, and he seemed quite happy to be in the middle of the action.  He was too cute to tell that he was in the way.

We’re going to keep moving forward this week.  I’ll be taking all the shelves off the walls and taping off the trim so we can get the walls painted light gray either tonight or tomorrow.

Nice trick to cover the walls and the stuff, it’s quite a job to move everything.

Hi, I’m Christina.

Little Victorian is your place for inspiration, education, and encouragement for how to be your own interior designer and decorator, and how to carry out your big plans yourself too.

It starts with psychology, then artistry, and ends with power tools. None of those are scary, and you really can do it.
