Miniatures

Happy Friday!  I’m having an odd problem here on the blog.  Over the last 48 hours, I have received literally (I can no longer use that word without thinking of Rob Lowe’s Parks and Rec character saying “LIT-trally”…so funny), anyway literally over 150 spam comments on one of my old posts.  I have to go in several times a day and mark dozens as spam and then delete them.

Since the blog started growing in the last year, I’ve gotten maybe a dozen spam comments total.  So I have no idea why this has started, why that one post or how to stop these rude people.  So, in the case that I have accidentally deleted a real comment in the last 48 hours, I’m very sorry, it was unintentional.  And since marking these comments as spam before deleting them is not seeming to help, I am regrettably going to have to turn on captcha for posting comments.  Please forgive me, it will only be for a few days.  Hopefully by then, they will have given up and found something constructive to do with their time.

Now onto the cute stuff (as always, they are in no particular order):

Jazzi has made this adorable outdoor furniture for the house she is renovating.  Love that pool so much, and can’t wait to see more of the house renovations!

Molly's minis kitchen

Molly has her kitchen on hand and she has plans to upgrade it.

She also gathered some great inspiration photos for making her own sofa bed for her dollhouse.  Check them out here.  Hopefully she’ll give us a tutorial when she’s finished.  *wink, wink, Molly*

Linda gave us a tutorial on how to make mini books.

And electrified her capiz chandelier.  (A DIY made from milk jugs that you must go check out if you haven’t seen it yet.)

Neen’s art deco plans are coming along.  She is using an emptied out 1930’s radio as her dollhouse base.  Brilliant.  Take a look at her pics here.

And sorry ladies, but if I were calling out winners each month, Max would totally have it.  She made the best miniature of all this month by far.  His name is Findlay.

PS: Be sure to check out all of the participants’ dollhouses here. Everyone is doing great work, I’d love to feature everyone, but as you all know, there’s only so much time to put a post together.  🙂  Also, there have been some concerns over featuring others’ work.  1. Some have said they do not want their content shared from their blog.  2. Some of the participants copywrite their photos and they can’t be shared.

So that leads me to a special request of all the Undersized Urbanite participants.  Please let me know either in the comments or by an email (christina at littlevictorian dot com) if you would rather I didn’t share your work on the blog.

Have a great weekend everyone!

150 spam comments is a LOT! I too have gotten like only five in about two years 🙂 Hope the spam stops.
Argh my miniature garden is still in planning stage. Well I have got the supplies, but now it has been on stand still. Thanks for the reminder and inspiration. You are free to use my pics (once I have some to share)

That is crazy spam. :\ What a mess!

I sent you an email, but my messages often end up in people junk folder. I don’t know why. Anyway, if you want to use my Artist’s Studio pics for an UU update, that is fine with me. 😀

I do have a watermark on my photos – but that is due to recently finding out about pinterest and being pinned so just in case there is some way of the image just ending up in the ether the watermark is there but I am quite comfortable with anything I write or photograph or post being ‘curated’ 😀 Especially if it’s here. I have an anti spam plug in that auto detects spam comments and I just go in every now and again and delete them – not sure if you can get something like that?

Watermarks are great! I love when things are watermarked on Pinterest, we don’t have to go hunting for the source.

Blogger is supposed to have a spam blocker, normally it works, but somehow these were all getting through.

Which post was it? That is a ridiculous amount. I had one post that got about 60 spam comments in a couple of days so I ended up just disabling comments for that one post (I left a comment explaining and asking real people to comment on the next post). I think that spammers search for popular search terms or hot topics. I had a ton of spam on a post about the President and for “contests” and anytime I use “free” in the title of the post.

Another solution is to add comment moderation, and approve each message before it is published. You could set up a filter in your email inbox, so all of the comments from “anonymous” skip the inbox and go into a folder you glance at later. For me, about 1 out of every 40 “anonymous” comments is an actual real comment.

    What a pain, so sorry!

It was a post about laminating checklists of all things. I LOVE your idea of setting up a filter! Off to do that right now, thank you.

Bigger problem than just you… Ugh. I’m having spam issues where obvious spam that previously would have been filtered sent to spam, is now getting published and I have to manually move it to spam and delete it.

It seems that spammers found a work around Google’s/Blogger’s spam filter. If you are still having issues you may want to report them at the link below. From what I can tell, people started complaining about a month ago. Google is “working” on it, but jeesh it sucks. It’s so annoying that spam comments are getting published.

Here’s the forum if you are still having issues:

I had to change my comment settings to allow only members of the blog. Suddenly I was literally getting 2-4 a day. When I tried to remove it, spam quickly appeared in only a couple hours – so back to members only.

Feel free to share anything you want from my blog!

House update! The realtor is still confused about House update! The realtor is still confused about why "it's such a popular house." When she arrived yesterday for a showing, there were 8 cars in the driveway. 😃

We had three offers the first day, one of whom hadn't even seen the house in person yet.
Surprise! The house is going on the market today. Surprise! The house is going on the market today. (Long story that I'll fill you in on when I have more than 2 seconds.)
.
But we're once again with a realtor that calls our house "unique" instead of calling it a Mid Century Modern. 🤦‍♀️
.
We can't count how many locals came into this house and mentioned that those windows should be removed and walled up and the beams cut off. And then it would be a "normal" house. 🤯
.
Still can't really identify with people in this area. 🤷‍♀️ SO happy to be going back home to the East coast TOMORROW!
Right? We're getting back into the house restorat Right?
We're getting back into the house restoration and we'll be working on the powder room in the master bed.
Guys. It's bad. Swipe to see.
And we're going to try to make it pretty with a super tiny budget of $100 in 4 weeks and we're joining the #100roomchallenge to keep us (me) motivated.
