Promise it’s my last.

In my regular trip to Goodwill yesterday, I found another bar cart (well, this one is a bar tray).  But, it will actually be used as a bar cart this time.  I need to free up some space in the china cabinet for my big stash of table linens, and the back half-wall of the dining room really needed something in it.

It’s quite a bit bigger than it looks, about 3 feet wide!  As soon as I saw it, I picked it up and carried it around the store.  There was no way I was going to leave that pretty thing alone until I was done shopping and give someone else the chance to grab it.  Apparently, that’s what someone else was planning on doing, because when I turned the corner, a lady said “You got the tray!”  Felt guilty, but you really have to grab things when you see them around here.  She ended up in front of me at the checkout and she looked over at it and said, “You know what I would do with it?  Paint it white.”  Ha! if she only knew.  Pretty sure that I will just sand this one down and stain it this time.  (Of course leaving the brass as-is.)  I’m not sure what shade yet, but I really like the deep red that it currently is, just maybe a little lighter?  And the veneer on the base of the tray…I’m not messing with repainting old veneer again, so I have a plan, but it might fail, so I’ll see if it works before telling you about it.  🙂

Other than that, I haven’t worked on the house at all since early last week. The Etsy shop has been busy (yay!) and I am working on finishing my first custom order today.  It took much longer than I thought it would.  Here’s a picture of one of the frames in the set:

And my stock is extremely low right now, so I’m working on a whole new line of my jewelry organizers in spring colors to post for sale all at once.  As soon as those are done, I’ll be back to working on house projects!

Hi, I’m Christina.

Little Victorian is your place for inspiration, education, and encouragement for how to be your own interior designer and decorator, and how to carry out your big plans yourself too.

It starts with psychology, then artistry, and ends with power tools. None of those are scary, and you really can do it.
